1) Caring for your dosha type- In Ayurveda, there are 3 main dosha types, Vata- represents the elements of Space and Air, Pitta- represents the elements of Fire and Water and Kapha- represents the elements of Earth and Water.

Vata skin type must be cleansed carefully and exfoliated. Rice or nut powders mixed with hydrating rose water, or even milk, can provide great natural alternatives to chemical-based exfoliants that can particularly aggravate vata skin.

Pitta skin type tends to be the most sensitive and prone to redness, aggravation, and sun-sensitivity. Aloe vera gel can be applied directly to the skin for five minutes twice a week and removed with cold water, this can provide the much-needed "cooling" for pitta skin.

Kapha skin is thicker and oilier, prone to blackheads, pimples, and eczema. Gently scrub the face with a mixture of sea salt and honey followed by a herbal steam with mint leaves two to three times a week for keeping pores clear and maintaining the optimal oil balance.

2) Seasonal factors also dictate your skin care routine. For the summer months, shield your skin from the sun and apply lots of sunblock. For the winters apply good quantity of moisturizer to avoid dry skin.

3) Meditating is the process of calming the mind and getting rid of the extra anxiety and stress. Stress has known to be one of the main reasons for skin wrinkling over a period of time. By reducing the stress in your life, it has been seen to have a positive impact on the health of your skin.

4) Take care of your skin- Here is a recipe for face packs that can be made at the comfort of your home-Cucumber and Honey face pack: Shred one clean and fresh cucumber and add 1 tablespoon of honey into it. Carefully apply all across the face. Relax and let the skin soak in the goodness. Wash off after 30 minutes.

Your skin will love the nourishment of cucumber and honey from this mixture.

Lemon and aloe vera face pack: Whip up a quick face mask by taking 2 tablespoon of aloe vera gel and adding 2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice into it. Or scrape fresh gel from aloe plant. Use the mix to cover your face and wash after 20 minutes. Lemon juice effectively removes grease while adding a fresh fragrance to your skin and aloe vera keeps your skin moisturized.

5) Regular exercise and yoga- Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is very important to get a flawless skin. One should include yoga and regular exercise in their daily routine, this not only keeps a person fit but also helps to wash off the impurities present in the body in the form of sweat and also keeps an individual healthy.
