Diet:
Most important change that happens to patient as perceived by family is diet. You would all have received as sheet contain what to eat and what not to eat, but that doesn't have any relation to what you cook and eat daily. In my opinion, for vegetarians without much of out of home eating there is nothing much needs to be changed in diet. Both what you eat and how much you eat are important. Based on your weight and activity level you need to know what is your calorie requirement. Simple rule would be if you are not overweight than you can continue to eat all that you were eating except:
1.Reduce the amount of oil in food to bare minimum, can use any oil except Palm oil, dalada (Vanspathi) and Ghee
2.Cut down sweets to near nil, reserving only for special occasions
If you are overweight than you need to cut calories also which need to be achieved by reducing quantity as well as above precautions
If you are non vegetarian
Cut down non veg to 2-3 times month
Avoid all deep fried food and prefer boiled meats or soup
