What are dentures?

Dentures are essentially a removable replacement of your teeth. There are two types of dentures:

1. Complete: Conventional or Immediate

Conventional dentures are made after the removal of the teeth and healing of the gum tissues. While immediate dentures are made in advance and can be replaced soon after a teeth is removed.

2. Partial:
When your gum does retain some natural teeth, partial types then come to use.

Do you rinse your dentures after meal every day? Do you take care of the them as you would do to your natural teeth? Here’s a quick run through on how to take absolute care of your dentures:

1. Give them some rest: That will help recover your mouth tissues. Remove them at night and soak them in warm water if they are made of metal or else use a cleaner as this would help remove stain, bacteria, plaque and tartars.

2. Take care of them: dentures are fragile and expensive. Don't use toothpicks or hard brushes to clean them, use a soft towel or bowl of water.

3. Regular cleaning: Dentures build up stain, tartar and bacteria just as your natural teeth does so it is very important to clean them regularly.

4. Visit your dentist regularly: Whether you have partial or complete dentures, you still need to see your dentist at least once a year for oral examination, oral hygiene, denture fittings and dental care.

To have a healthy and long lasting smile, make sure you give your dentures a long-lasting life. Don’t forget to book your appointment with the dentist once in every six months.
