The soursop fruit, scientifically known as Annona Muricata is a species of the genus Annona of the custard apple tree family. The fruit is called as 'sour sop' due to its slightly acidic taste when ripe. This plant is native to the Caribbean and central America, but now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical climates throughout the world.

The fruits are dark green and prickly. They are ovoid and can be up to 30 centimeters long with moderately firm texture. The flesh is juicy, acidic, whitish and aromatic.

The flesh of the fruit consists of an edible white pulp,some fiber,and indigestible black seeds.The pulp is also used to make fruit nectar, smoothies, fruit juice drinks, candies, sorbets, ice cream flavorings etc.,

Many parts of the fruit are used medicinally including the leaves, fruits and stems. Also it can be used for cooking and can be applied to skin too.

Many internet sources have been promoting Soursop for cancer cure,but still scientific studies and researches are required to prove this.We need more sources to discover about this. Some researches have shown that it may have many health benefits.
