I write this story to thank Dr. Manu Bora for his treatment regarding my rehabilitation of ACL partial tear. I got the injury while playing badminton while a slight twist in my left knee.

Soon after the injury I felt like it was just a sprain and will get healed easily. I consulted 3 doctors in my hometown and was advised to go for rest after few examinations through X-rays. I was still in pain and thought that it may get healed up in the course of time. Likewise 7 months passed by and my pain still there but I was able to do the daily work but I was unable to play any sports. After few months I thought of going for running and from there my story of ACL injury started. After few hours of running, I felt severe pain in my left knee. Then I consulted sports surgeon in Raipur. He stated that I have an ACL injury and I have to go through arthroscopic bio screw surgery and it will take around 6 months to recover with 1.5 months of complete bed-rest. Frankly, I got scared by having a thought of this surgery and tenure of the recovery.

Soon while searching online I got to know about he ACL specialist in Gurgaon, Dr. Manu Bora sir. I consulted him through phone told my symptoms as well he MRI report. He soon responded that it is partial tear and can get healed by PRP therapy and surgery will not be required. I saw a ray of hope with this consultation and discussed all the procedure to undergo the therapy. Though, it was a coronavirus time and it was difficult to travel but still, I went for the therapy in Gurgaon. I had my first PRP therapy last month and soon after the first injection I felt relief in the pain. Then after the second therapy, I almost started doing exercises like squats, , hamstring strengthening exercises etc. After the third injection, I was completely able to do jogging, running, and do all the daily work easily. Through all the course doctor always suggested me to do more exercises and also supported for my other queries related to the rehabilitation.

Now after 1 month of the therapy, I feel extremely happy to say that I have recovered almost completely from the my partial ACL injury without any surgery. I wrote this to thank Dr. Manu Bora for the treatment. I will recommend everyone who is facing any symptoms of orthopedic injury to consult doctor and get treatment soon. He is specialist in ACL surgery and also uses advanced methods for the treatment. I once again thank Dr. Manu Bora for all the treatment he provided me.

Summary: The procedure is expensive and the staff is non-cooperative at times. After surgical rehabilitation charges do not provide value. The physiotherapist charges money just to share videos on WhatsApp. However, at the end of the day, the surgery is important and is performed well by the doctor. I reached out to his team and his team was quick to reply and make me understand the procedure that I was supposed to go through. I was suggested to undergo an ACL reconstruction surgery with a fiber tape internal brace.

Since I had insurance, the cost was on the higher side. Even though my insurer did not have a tie-up with Dr. Manu's hospital, still his team gave me a window of 45 days to get the money insurer and pay him which was a really good thing.

I was told my surgery would happen at Lamidas and was called to the hospital one day prior to the surgery. I was attended there by their staff and they were really helpful.

However, 1 thing I would like to point out is that by this time, I hadn't met Dr. Manu Bora. The next day, after completing all the pre-surgical procedures I was told the doctor would come to see me, however, he was almost 3 hours late.

Nonetheless, the surgery was completed in 1.5 hrs, and as the doctor promised he made me walk a few steps the next day.

I had my flight back from Delhi the next day at 1 PM and I started requesting a discharge at 6 AM in the morning so that the paperwork could be completed and I could get to the airport on time. However, even after a lot of requests and calling his team at least 20 times, all my requests fell on deaf ears. They delayed the procedure so much that I missed my flight. They did not cooperate at all. I had to spend an additional Rs 18.000 to book flights a the airport.

Also, just after leaving the hospital, I started feeling unbearable pain around my neck and head. There was no pain till the time I was laying on the bed, but the moment I used to sit and stand, the pain used to start almost immediately and it was unbearable. While returning, I had to keep my head straight for almost 4 hours, and I had to bear so much pain. I cried for almost after 8 years that day, it was one of the most painful moments in recent times.

When I came back home, I called Dr. Manu's team to understand why was this happening and I was told this is due to a Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Leak. This leak happened when spinal anesthesia was given to me. I was told that this will get better in a couple of weeks and recommended drinking lots of coffee and water. However, for the next 10 days, I was completely bedridden and I had to keep myself in a laying position the entire time.

Next was the exercises that I had to do as part of the therapy. The physiotherapist used to have a call once every two weeks and charged money just to share some videos. Considering my situation I had to lie down most of the time, and the exercises were even more difficult. However, I did not miss even a single day and did all my exercises. For the initial 20 days, I had to walk with the help of a supporter but after 15 days I could walk.

I started mild jogging after 60 days and that was really positive. There is still some pain while climbing stairs and doing a few other activities.

At an overall level, I wouldn't say that it was a very positive experience but it was fine.

Dr. Manu is an expert in the true sense when it comes to ACL reconstruction and repair. The biggest advantage is getting the latest medical intervention available in the world as Dr. Manu regularly updates himself with the latest medical technology and method available . The follow-up team is very dedicated and I'm hoping to be looked after constantly for the post-op rehabilitation.

I understand your concern. ACL is not the only thing in the knee , there are cartilage, meniscus, pcl , lcl , mcl .. I did your ACL surgery and if there is any problem in the ACL surgery then there will be instability, that's the function of ACL. You are having pain that's not because of ACL , ITS BECAUSE of cartilage issue . Kindly come to the clinic, we will diagnose it and then can tell you the exercises schedule accordingly.
