There are medical practitioners around - and then there is Dr Aruna Kalra. My husband and I first met her through a friend's referral - at a time when, having been disappointed with medical care in Gurgaon, we were considering to go back to the UK for child delivery where I delivered my two children previously. After the very first meeting with Dr Aruna, we decided to stay and deliver under her care and guidance. And what a decision we made! We recently delivered a baby girl with her unwavering help and support. Our sincere thanks to her.

Besides being an experienced gynaecologist, Dr Aruna is a wonderful human being with a highly pleasant personality. She is someone who you like to befriend and keep company with. Right from the first interaction till now, she always greeted us with a smile. Now we all know how smile positively affects our well being and generates physiological changes inside our body. In our case, her unflagging smile won our total 'trust' to the extent that we stopped asking questions on the technical aspect of treatment. We knew that she knows her field very well. So, our sessions progressed from talking about general well being to other issues of mutual interests - with minimal medical intervention.

Finally, she does not only listen to you - she reaches out to you. How many 'good' doctors do we know who would text you first thing in the morning to ask: how is your BP today having noted some concern around it the previous day? I haven't known many.

I would strongly recommend Dr Aruna for those moms who are nervous, have complications in pregnancy, and need emotional support. Unlike many good doctors, she is highly accessible (24/7), and has established several networks for communication. Dr Aruna brings a kind of moral and ethical sensivity to the medical profession, that is hard to see in the age of commercialisation and market economy. We came to Dr Aruna Kalra during my second trimester as my previous doctor had gone on a long leave. What started off as any pregnancy, soon became a case of severe IUGR (intra uterine growth restriction) pregnancy. This meant that the baby was not growing at an expected rate inside the uterus. Given our progress (or lack of it), we were told to be prepared for a preterm baby. At the time we were unsure of what that meant and it all felt scary.

Dr Aruna was the calm in our storm. Not only did she give us the best possible medical care, she also became a source of immense strength for us. I have sat in her cabin and cried out of sheer fear. She never dismissed my feelings and always offered kind comfort to get through this journey. She encouraged our questions and was happy to answer our queries with utmost patience and facts. Both my husband and I felt comfortable in her care.

Inspite of the rough journey we had, Dr Aruna delivered our sweet baby girl, via an emergency C-section. I will never forget when she came and held my hand before the surgery, and even offered to stay back with my husband (at wee hours of the night) while I was being wheeled out of the operation theatre. Who does that anymore?

This review will be incomplete without the mention of Arfa, her assistant, who’s efficiency in coordinating appointments and assistance cannot be compared. The nurses who took care of us during the many trips to the hospital - sister Naomi, Priti, Jincy, Anisha and possibly everyone on the LR floor at CK Birla Hospital. Dr. Pawani who was there during the delivery and kept cracking jokes while I was being wheeled in. Not once did I feel I was in a hospital, but surrounded by family and loved ones. Dr. Saurabh and his team for taking care of our baby like their own while she was in the NICU. This stellar team is the reason we have a beautiful family.

I wholeheartedly and warmly recommend Dr Aruna and wish her continued success in her medical journey.

It was our first pregnancy, we didn’t had any clue as there are many doctors in the town. We got to know about Dr.Aruna Kalra from our dearest friend. First time we went to doctor, we found Dr.Kalra very calm and compose and the way doctor makes you understand about every minute things is remarkable. After our first trimester, our pregnancy journey had lots of ups and downs, but every time we visited Dr.Kalra, irrespective our worries, Ma’am had always made us calm and laugh by her great sense of humour. Dr.Aruna had not just spoken about our pregnancy in every visit but she had also connected with us personally by asking about our well being. She will listen to your problems very patiently and whatever your health issues you go through. On 20th July 2021 we were blessed with our little princess Amoha with Nomal delivery. No words would ever be enough to express our gratitude. Thank you once again for bringing our angel to earth.
