Dr Somnath Sengupta graduated in Medicine from Burdwan University, West Bengal in 1983, postgraduate trained in Psychiatry at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore University (1988), completed Senior residency in 1992 from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. He then worked as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Manipal, Karnataka from1992 till1999. Following which he joined Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), Government of NCR, Delhi as Associate Professor and became a Professor in 1995. However, he left the institute in 2008 for overseas experience to work as a Consultant in Adult Psychiatry at Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Ministry of Health, Singapore. Then, he returned to India in 2015 to work as a Visiting Consultant at Mediclinic, Medanta Hospital, Delhi and Yashoda Hospital, Kausambi, Ghaziabad. Again, in 2017, Dr. Sengupta went back to Singapore to join IMH and worked there as a Senior Consultant till 2022, February. Currently Dr. Somnath Sengupta is associated with Mindful TMS Neuro care as Senior Consultant - Adult Psychiatry. Likes to support persons with mental health problems in a humanitarian way and respects, wherever possible, patients' preference for psychosocial and medical treatment.
