Myself Nikhil Francis, was diagnosed with encephalomyelitis .Paralyzed from the chest down and confined to a wheelchair at age of 27. Lost ability to walk, stand and sitting balance, lost sensation, bladder control and bowel movements, there was extensive demyelination in the spine as well.

I was admitted to Maurya Ayurveda Ortho and Neuro Rehabilitation Center after my initial treatment from Lourdes Hospital.

In Maurya, I started to witness the changes day by day. It began small - wiggling of toes and then one leg being able to move, slowly sensation swept through my lower limbs, achieved sitting balance, regained ability to stand and then walk with assistance and finally within three and half months of treatment I was able to walk on my own.

Even when I felt my legs were going to fall off, thank you Dr.Kassim and Team for encouraging me to keep going as it will get stronger.

Thank you Dr. Shahanaz and Dr.Razeena , Dr. Aysha for treating me like a person, not a patient and as much as I may have complained, thank you for letting me not quit as I definitely would not be where I’m at if you didn’t. I just wanted to let you know that my level of mobility has improved tremendously. My recovery wouldn't have been possible without your hard work and attention.
