After graduating in Medicine from The University of Manchester in 2000, Dr. Shefali completed her MSc in Sports and Exercis Medicine, graduating in 2002, as the youngest and one of the only two females to complete the course. She then covered the Commonwealth Games Boxing event the summer of that year and soon became an Honorary Clinical Assistant in Sports Medicine at the Royal London Hospital. Dr. Shefali became very interested in the manipulation of the athlete's body composition and went on to get her Postgraduate Degree in Nutritional Therapy. There she learnt the common road blocks to fat loss which also proved relevant in comprehending the process of chronic diseases. Over the last 15 years, Dr. Shefali has provided private consultations and education to major corporations and government offices such as the U.A.E's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Government Development and Future Office. In 2018, she consulted the employees of the Dubai Executive Office for 13 months. She also monitored the national athletics team in 2020 who had been selected to participate in the government games. Other corporate engagements include the Prime Minister's Office and the Executive Council, the Government of Dubai, Emirates NBD Bank and Nasco Koraoglan Insurance. Dr. Shefali Verma has also been in private practice as a Functional Medicine Specialist in Dubai Healthcare City since 2010. She opened the Doctor Shefali Consultancy to support organisations, health coaches, parents and schools, while teaching and espousing the philosophy 'An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. In 2017, she was awarded "Top 50 Outstanding Women in Healthcare" which was presented at the Worlds Health and Wellness Congress and Awards in Mumbai.
