He holds a Diplomate of the National Board in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgery (FRCS) in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery (UK). He has completed Advanced training at prestigious centres, including Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, Mumbai, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, New York, Advanced Orthopaedic Associates, Kansas and Klinikum Karlsruhe, Germany. Besides these, he has a plethora of qualifications including an IOC Diploma in Sports Medicine, a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, a certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) from the American Heart Association and Advanced Trauma Life Support from American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Nayak is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an International Scholar of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Indian Arthroscopy Society, the Shoulder & Elbow Society of India, the Bombay Orthopaedic Society and the Indian Orthopaedic Association. He is a Fellow & faculty at AO Trauma Foundation, Switzerland.
Dr. Nayak commenced his sterling career as a Senior Registrar at the Topiwala National Medical College & B.Y.L. Nair Hospital in Mumbai, India. After completing fellowships in Joint Replacement at prestigious hospitals like Lilavati Hospital & Medical Centre and Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, he joined M.T. Agarwal Municipal General Hospital as a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon. Here, he introduced arthroscopy and was able to provide these facilities, in addition to joint replacement and trauma. Later, he worked at HM Navneet Hospital and the Apollo Clinic, Thane, as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. He practised as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Joint Replacement & Sports Medicine at Aditi Hospital, Mulund, Rajawadi Municipal General Hospital, Apollo Spectra Hospitals, Breach Candy Hospital and Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He is also a visiting surgeon at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, USA. He has served as a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon with NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Nahda, for almost a decade.
With continuous training and attending courses to hone his skills, Dr. Nayak developed a special interest in arthroscopy, arthroplasty, joint replacement, and trauma. He performs the entire gamut of knee arthroscopy, including ACL reconstruction, primary & revision, PCL reconstruction, combined ligamentous injuries, meniscus surgery, cartilage preservation techniques, arthroscopic Synovectomy, lateral release and loose body excision. His expertise covers all aspects of shoulder arthroscopy, like Bankart’s repair for recurrent shoulder dislocation, Rotator cuff repair, adhesiolysis and labral repair, high tibial osteotomy, MPFL reconstruction, PLC reconstruction and hip procedures including core decompression, and orthopaedic, upper limb or lower limb trauma, and peri-articular fractures. He has successfully done surgeries, including Carpal tunnel release, DeQuervain's release, trigger finger release, major tendon repairs, and ganglion excision. He manages osteoporosis, non-surgical treatment of back or neck pain and disc disorders, administers PRP injections for chronic disorders, injections for plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, shoulder tendinitis, wrist tendinitis, bursitis, and intra-articular injections for joint pathology / USG guided, treated ligament sprains, muscle strains, tears, joint injuries, and repaired Achilles tendon, and injuries to biceps, triceps, rectus femoris, quadriceps. He is proficient in performing procedures like open Latarjet procedure, Eden-Hybinette procedure, open rotator cuff repair for shoulder pathology and Coraco-clavicular ligament reconstruction.
Dr. Nayak has a keen interest in teaching and learning. He regularly attends and presents many lectures and seminars. He has published in leading journals related to Clinical Orthopaedics and related research, presented at numerous international and national conferences and been awarded Best Paper for surgical techniques and protocols.
