He has worked as a consultant endocrinologist in several large healthcare facilities in Dubai, UAE. Prior to relocating to the UAE, he served as a consultant endocrinologist at Basildon University Hospital, UK, until March 2021.
Dr Bashir has delivered state-of-the-art services in all the centres he has worked at and has managed a variety of complex endocrine disorders related to thyroid, adrenal, testosterone replacement, polycystic ovary syndrome, and diabetes complications. He is an expert in the use of the latest technologies such as Freestyle Libre sensors, DEXCOM continuous glucose monitors, and insulin pump therapy. He applies primary preventive strategies for prediabetes reversal, promoting a healthy lifestyle, weight management, and encouraging longevity.
Dr Bashir has achieved notable recognition for his contributions to medical science and clinical practice. He was awarded first prize in quality improvement projects by the Royal College of Physicians (UK) for his work in developing diabetes services. He also received the runner-up prize for the Wales Best Trainee Award for his innovative design of a mobile app for diabetes and endocrine trainees’ induction.
