He worked as a consultant in Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery at York Teaching Hospital, England, from February 2018 till August 2024.
He is fully accredited by the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Surgeons.
Throughout his career, he developed a special interest in phonosurgery and Trans-Oral Laser Resection of benign laryngeal lesions and early laryngeal cancer.
He is a member of the British Laryngological Society and an active member of Voice Service Team in North Yorkshire.
As part of his training, he completed his research in Dizziness and was awarded MD Degree in Otolaryngology.
He supplemented his training at the American Institute of Balance, Florida, USA in 2015.
He ran a vestibular clinic at York Balance Centre, which provides assessment and management of various vestibular conditions for approximately 800 patients per year.
He has had the pleasure of teaching fourth-year medical students at Hull and York Medical School, and he provided clinical and educational supervision for doctors in the foundation year program.
Dr. Assem was appointed as the Governor Lead of the Head and Neck Department in 2018, which oversees the quality and safety in four different subspecialties (ENT, Maxillary and Facial Surgery, Orthodontics and Restorative Medicine, and Audiology).
