Concurrently, he also completed the Advanced Course in ophthalmology, again standing first in the course and receiving the Northern Command Gold Medal. He completed DNB (Ophthalmology) in 1999, successfully completed a short term hands on course in phacoemulsification in 2001 from Shri Sadguru Sangh Seva Trust, Chitrakoot, MP, was awarded the MNAMS 2004 by the National Academy of Medical Sciences and did short term ICO fellowship in Medical Retina (2004) from University Hospital, Gent, Belgium State University, Belgium.
Dr. Choudhary’s clinical experience includes more than 24 years of distinguished service in the Indian Armed Forces as an Ophthalmologist. He joined Centre for Sight in 2014 as a Senior Consultant and was based at the Vikaspuri Centre where he endeared himself to each and every patient. He is well versed in stitchless cataract surgery including Toric and Multifocal lenses, Retina diagnostics and Medical Retina including intravitreal injections and Retinal Laser, proficient in all glaucoma diagnostics, therapeutics and surgeries including Ex-press® shunt and valve surgeries. Dr. Choudhary was formerly Professor and PG examiner – Maharashtra University of Medical Sciences, Formerly Professor and PG examiner – Indraprastha University, Delhi and Inspector for PG facilities – Medical Council of India.
His administrative experience includes responsibility for setting up Eye departments de-novo in two Naval hospitals, active involvement in embarking on the modernization programme of all ophthalmic centres of the Armed Forces, in laying down and updating ophthalmic standards for commissioning and recruitment into the Armed Forces, instrumental and the key person responsible for awarding NABH accreditation to Air Force Central Medical Establishment on as the Chief Coordinator, NABH Accreditation.
Former positions held by him include HOD & Classified Specialist (Ophthalmology) at Air Force Central Medical Establishment, Professor of Ophthalmology at Army College of Medical sciences (ACMS), Classified Specialist & Professor (Ophthalmology) at Naval Command Hospital Asvini, Mumbai, Classified Specialist (Ophthalmology) and Associate Professor at Base Hospital Delhi Cantt. and ACMS, Classified Specialist (Ophthalmology),Naval Hospital Kalyani, Vishakhapatanam, Graded Specialist (Ophthalmology) at Chilika, Orissa and Medical Officer in the Indian Navy in various Ashore and Afloat billets.
Before TARUNEYE, Dr Choudhary was Senior Consultant at Centre for Sight group of Eye hospitals for five and a half years.read less
