He is also a member of the Royal College of Physicians, London. After completing his residency at GB Pant Hospital, New Delhi, he served there as a lecturer for the Department of Cardiology at Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London. Dr. Chopra specialises in diseases of the heart and circulatory system. He along with Dr. Ashwani Chopta founded Aashlok Hospital in 1981 from where he started his private practice. Under the guidance of Dr. Alok and Dr. Ashwani, Aashlok Hospital became the first modern multi-disciplinary hospital in Delhi. After seeing life and death at close quarters during his practice as an Intensivist, he became a believer as well as a practitioner of complementary therapies and traditional medicine.
