Dr. Asif Iqbal Ahmed is a Professor and Senior Consultant Psychiatry, formerly Senior Adviser (Psychiatry) is a Gold Medalist Post Graduate in Psychiatry (1995) from AFMC Pune. He retired as Surgeon Captain from the Army Medical Corps (Colonel) where he rendered yeoman service for 21 Years in healthcare. During his illustrious career, he received chief of naval staff commendation and citations for Vishisht Sewa Medal and Naosena Medal for devotion to duty while catering to the Mental Health needs of the community. He worked extensively with troops of the Indian Armed Forces on stress management, suicide prevention and alcohol abuse conducting workshops for about 10,000 troops across the country to create awareness on these important issues.After leaving Armed Forces in 2013, He realized that the Mental Health needs of the community are highly underserved. There is a lot of suffering which needs treatment and professional help. Drawing from his experience and network, he founded Psycare with a team of highly dedicated and qualified professionals who shared his vision of providing the best Mental Healthcare in keeping with global standards. His mission is to reduce stigma towards Psychiatry patients by creating awareness and make care available to all the needy persons.Psychological testing, wellness management, and rehabilitation services are also provided. Dr. Ahmed specializes in a wide range of problems ranging from depression, addictions, schizophrenia, anxiety and stress-related disorders, childhood disorders, dementia, OCD and bipolar disorder. As a westerner,, I am quite particular about doctors in India, as I find many pretentious and do not listen clearly to me, the patient (I am particular in my country also). Dr. Asif, as I call him is so down to earth and in touch with the patient and himself. He is a gentle lovely man, and has guided me through treatment with medication and conversing and also his recommended colleague who I have been seeing. Don't hesitate to connect with Dr Asif for any mental health issue, walk forward with him. He has that warmth that many who want and need to reach out for. Don't hesitate.
