From his initial days in M.B.B.S he was curious towards the psychological aspects of illnesses and had special interest in mental and behavioral problems. Hence he went on to pursue post-graduation in his dream branch, Psychiatry.
He did his M.D. Psychiatry from the renowned Lady Hardinge Medical College & Smt Sucheta Kriplani Hospital, Delhi University. This provided him with a vast experience in various mental illnesses like schizophrenia, mood disorder, and substance addiction, OCD, anxiety disorders etc.
Working as a Post-graduate and Senior resident in Lady Hardinge Medical College & associated hospitals provided him with ample opportunity to treat children and adolescents coming to Kalawati Saran Children Hospital, with mental and behavioral problems.
He has experience in all fields of Psychiatry which include Adult psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Drug De-addiction, Geriatric Psychiatry, Marital problems, Psycho-sexual disorders and Community Psychiatry. Having worked in a GHPU, he also has expertise in Psychosomatic Medicine and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
He also has vast experience in Psychotherapy in addition to Pharmacotherapy. His approach for management of mental and behavioural problems is a holistic approach with a blend of both pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
Since his PG days Dr. Ankit Goel had a keen interest in research work and academics. He has authored and presented many research papers in National and International Conferences and Journals. His work includes validation of Hindi translation of DSM-5 level 1 cross-cutting symptom measure, women mental health, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) etc.
He also authored and edited chapters in various national and international books on many topics including Autism spectrum disorder, Sexual dysfunctions, Forensic psychiatry etc. He also has vast experience in teaching students (UG and PG), interns, psychology students and nursing students.
