I had some deprsion@20 which my family was not ready to understand after much presure they were rdy for visit to d doc wid me. Its frst sesion it didn't go well, got medicines which were not available newhr. Later my family asked r you mental to visit a psychiatrist. And they instead took me to temple for poja stuf.

you have asked a very valid question. Yes it is still a taboo to meet a psychiatrist in our country. Anything related to mind is considered as weakness and could not be shared with anyone, but the suffering goes on. There are some myths associated with psychiatric treatments.
e.g once you take a medicine, you have to take it life long, you become addicted to it, it will change your thinking etc.
But everyone needs to understand mental health is more important than anything else.
