My friend have white patches on tip of his fingers , on legs and elbow for tha last five years. He really feel awkward and uncomfortable around people.

It may or may not be vitiligo. Any small injury to skin may produce a slightly whitish patch which re - pigments with time. Kindly consult a dermatologist for full evaluation. For getting back the normal colour of skin, phototherapy and skin grafting may be needed.
