What kind of diet to be taken?
Hi, my father is a diabetic patient since 25years. He is maintaining the blood sugar level by limiting food and with medicines till now. But since last 5 years, he lost all his muscle and looks very weak. What can he do and what diet should he follow to become healthy again.

Can use wheat,millets  2ith plenty of vegetables. Greengram sprouts is also healthy. Seasonal fruits gauva,papaya,banana are good for health. Almonds,walnuts,figs,can be powdered and give with milk. Vasantakusumaakara rasa,or Shilapravang can be given for general health maintainence. Walking,yoga,exercise for atleast one hour is good for fitness.

Hello He is going through muscle loss phase.He needs to add protein in his diet. Diet with complex carbohydrates, moderate protein,healthy fats and fibre rich foods.I Exercise is also important, brisk walking 45min min.To plan a diet I need to take detail diet history and medication also.sometimes some diabetic  medicine also cause weight loss.

It looks like he has been compromising  himself on important nutrients in his Diet in order to maintain his blood glucose levels do appreciate all his efforts for these 25 years.
Next Steps
The kind of Proteins added to his diet the combinations especially in trying to balance his carbohydrates fats and simple sugars in quantity and quality goes a long way in not trying to loose his muscles further kindly share his food plan in terms of his calories distribution and other Nutrients with which I can plan a diet chart that can avoid further loss of muscle strength and good blood  sugar control and correct other defeciencies.

Increase protein intake  and as well as good fat such as sprouts, tofu, egg, paneer, soya, all pulses and legumes . Also need more details  his eating pattern ,height weight and sugar level .
