What is lipid profile test used for
I am a 45 year old man and I wanted to get to the hospital to get a whole body checkup done. I was asked to come back with multiple test results out of which one was the lipid profile test. I didn't quite understand the necessity of the test and I want to know what it is. What is the use of lipid profile test in a general health check up regime? What does it indicate?

All persons above 20 years of age should get their lipid profile( cholesterol ) test done according to American heart association.
