By looking at a number of separate studies and pooling the results suggest that if people limited their television viewing to a maximum of two hours a day, from birth, they would live on average 1.4 years longer than they do now. It was estimated that if people limited their sitting time to three hours a day, their life expectancy would increase by two years on average. That’s possibly because watching TV is often part of a relatively unhealthy lifestyle, characterized by insufficient physical activity and poor eating habits. One study found that kids who watched a lot of TV were more likely than others to eat junk food and less likely to eat fruit. Ideally you require to have an active and healthy lifestyle by eating healthy and exercising regularly, the aim is to not have a sedentary lifestyle, sitting at a safe distance from the TV(5 ft and more based on the screen size) and watching TV in a well lit room.
