Hello Dr. My 3.5 years daughter is suffering from ups and down fever since yesterday I morning. She has caught cold today. Have got CBC and Material test done, reports are negative. She is not eating anything and completely down due to fever and cold. My family doctor has given some antibiotics but of no positive results.

Hello. I have understood your query. It looks like a vital fever only, there is no need of antibiotics unless there is a secondary bacterial infection. Continue giving her paracetamol medicine every 4 to 6 hourly. Let her take plenty of liquids. Do not force to eat, as during fever appetite will go down. Give her liquid foods such as kheer, kanji, soups, juices. U can also give her energy drink such as enerzal. Fever in viral infections last for 3 to 4 days. Do make a follow up visit to the doctor if fever persists
