Variations In Kidney Sizes
Need to know that whether the sizes of the kidneys could be different as per different USG reports done from the same lab even if the kidneys are healthy & there is no problems related to the kidneys ? Does the sizes of the kidneys fluctuates even under normal circumstances ? 15 months ago I had a routine USG where the size of the right kidney was 11.16 cm & the size of left kidney was 10.21 cm.Both kidneys didn't depict any abnormalities as per USG report.Serum creatinine, blood urea, potassium & urine acr all were within normal ranges.Had no problems related to kidneys,as such. Recently had another routine USG where the size of the right kidney was 10 cm & the size of left kidney was 9 cm.Both kidneys didn't depict any abnormalities as per USG report.Serum creatinine, blood urea, potassium & urine acr all were within normal ranges.Have no problems related to kidneys,as such.

Yes..Size of kidney differ approximately with different scan time. Usually during normal circumstances size will not differ..it differs with age, hydration during time of scan, comorbid conditions. This change in Size is mild..not large change in size..and it's normal in range .
