Tumor in uterus. Any treatment for this?

Myomas or Fibroids are NON cancerous tumors which may grow in the uterus. While there are many reasons for fibroids to occur, the most acceptable reason is that it occurs due to hormonal imbalance, where estrogen hormone is in more quantity than the progesterone. Whether a fibroid needs to be removed, depends on many factors like it's situation in the uterus, what symptoms it causes, whether the patient wants pregnancy , her age etc. Fibroids which cause problems or symptoms are usually recommended to be removed. But if they are small ( 1-2 cm diameter) and are not symptomatic, and if patient is nearing menopause, these can be waited upon. There are many medical methods to reduce fibroid size, and some even bring about 50% reduction in size. But these remain small for only for a few months. Most fibroids regrow after few months. Hence medical treatment has it''s own limitations. In some ladies who have their fibroids removed, it has been known to recur too...so there is NO definitive treatment. Hysterectomy can remove the uterus which usually is the site for fibroids to grow. But it can be recommended to only a few patients.
