Trichotillomania
I have been suffering from this disease from abt 2 yrs...the medication has helped me out...but i m not fully cured. If i miss my medicines someday, the urge of pulling hairs starts again. I pluck out my eyebrow n eyelash hairs mainly. am i getting addicted to these medicines? Is the treatment right? please help me out with this.

Dear, I can understand the distress you are suffering from. 1) Regarding the questions of medicines, you need to take the medicine for atleast 2 years after there is complete recovery. In your case there  hasn't been any remission,  therefore the option of not taking medication is out of question. 2) If the past treatment has caused reduction in your complaints and distress,  then the treatment plan is suiting you and you should continue to follow with the same.  Unless there are side effects. I suggest consulting your treating doctor would be best in this regards. 3) Such medicines are not addictive, but yes, abruptly discontinuing these would aggravate the underlying problems. Any such attempt should be made only on the advise of the treating consultant. Welcome for further information. Regards Dr Pankaj Borade
