You place an implant in tooth if you have a missing teeth. In this procedure you first do a minor surgery and then place an implant in the  bone. Once the recovery happens and the implant gets properly embedded in the bone..further a cap is placed on the implant which looks exactly like the tooth that you have lost. You will have to visit the dentist atleast thrice to get your implant checked and once for the cap. It's not a harmful procedure and will not do you any harm of you follow the instructions of your dentist. Implants at your age is the best option for a missing tooth  as the recovery will happen faster and there will be no age related problems .

Aprhension to any treatment or procedure is quite common, but one point to remember is to decide on a treatment which has a long term advantage. At present implants are definitely a good term option, not harmful and at present considered best option to replace a missing tooth/teeth.

At this age if you have a missing permanent tooth the better and long lasting option will be Dental implant. Please consult a certified implantologist for the procedure and preferably take a cbct of the area to be restored.

Not at all harmful. First visit- local anaesthesia is given so that you dont have any pain during implant placement. Within half an hour implant is put . After a week a stitch will be removed, which is 2 min job. Then you come after 2-3 months. Within 2-3 visits u ll get your tooth back. For more details visit my website www.aroradentistindelhi.in. My article " All about dental Implants" is there in Practo Health feed.

Hi Explaining implant in theory is not really possible . You can actually see videos on you tube for the same . In a nut shell , implant is placement of a titanium screw in your jaw bone which acts like an artificial root for a tooth. It's a non painful procedure done under local anaesthesia. Usually takes around 30 minutes to place an implant. And it is not harmful, worst case scenario the implant might fail. Regards

Implant is a great option for replacement of missing tooth /teeth . Involves placing a root form in the bone and after healing making a crown on the implant. In your case specially please check other parameters for the implant procedure since your age is just 20 years . Also consideration has be taken as which tooth need to be replaced is it front / back - upper/lower . All the best !

1-Dental Implant is used to replace missing teeth. It is basically a replacement of roots of teeth, when it osteo-integrate (bone formed around implant) it can support the permanent restoration i.e. Teeth.  This procedure can take 3-6 months. Till then provisional restoration can be planned. 2.Harmful..?  Hmmm.. It is routinely practiced by implantologist after few investigation like CBCT,  Few blood taste,  and full medical history and evaluation. Obviously there is a risk involved with any major or minor surgical procedure.  But after diagnostic evaluation and planning it is minimal. Regards Dr. Dinesh Rathod(Navi Mumbai )

Hello, Implants are now done on a regular basis by Implantologists.Good quality CBCT x-rays are a must to evaluate various parameters before implant placement. If all the guidelines allows the implant placement, then it is a relatively safe procedure. It is done under Local anaesthesia.A titanium screw of pre-determined width and length is placed into the bone, after which it is secured with sutures. The implant needs to osseointegrate with the bone which may take about 3-4 months, after which the crown is fixed.
