Learning how to manage stress properly can improve your overall emotional well-being. In order to manage stress effectively, we need to learn how to recognize what causes us stress, understand our body’s reaction to stress, and learn ways to reduce stress. Depression and anxiety are both psychological disorders that affect people differently. Depression is characterized by feelings of hopelessness, guilt, low self-esteem, fatigue, loss of interest in activities, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and changes in sleep patterns. People who suffer from depression often feel sad, guilty, empty, worthless, angry, or afraid. 6. Nutrition. Depression often stems from poor nutrition. Poor nutrition can lead to low levels of certain vitamins and minerals that affect neurotransmitters in the brain. Lack of sleep can cause depression and anxiety. Try to go to bed earlier and get up later. Sleep helps to overcome depression and anxiety by helping to regulate moods and emotions. When we sleep, our body produces chemicals called neurotransmitters, which send signals to our brain to make us feel happy or sad. These chemicals are produced at night while we’re asleep.
