Thumb of 3 months old
My son is 3.5 months old. Due to the weather, we used to put mittens on our baby's hand. Recently (3 days ago) we noticed that he keeps his thumb in his palm all the time so we tried to open his thumb but he is constantly getting his thumb in same position (in his palm). We have noticed improvement in right thumb (keeping it open 75% of time) but in left hand only 10% of time. When we keep a finger in between his fist, he is able to open the thumb but moving it back in palm. Why he is doing this ? How can it be improved ?

As a parent,I totally understand your concern. I think it better  to get a pediatrician advise.
Next Steps
keep up the good work of constantly opening his thumb. giving any blunt objects which the baby can hold will naturally  get the thumb out.

Although it seems a normal child behaviour to me. But you can get an examination done from nearby pediatrics orthopaedic surgeon also.
