Throat pain when sneezing
I'm a 30Y male. About 1yr ago I had oral sex with a woman. Since then I’ve been experiencing sharp pain in my throat when I sneeze. The pain can be quite intense, around 7/10, and usually lasts for about 10–20 seconds after sneezing before settling down. I also feel like I have a mild sore or scratchy throat almost every morning after waking up, but this usually improves within 5–10 minutes. I do not have any other symptoms. I don’t have fever, cough, breathing difficulty, mouth ulcers, swollen neck glands, weight loss, or difficulty eating or swallowing food. I also do intense running regularly, so initially I wondered whether the symptoms could be related to exercise or throat irritation from running. I stopped running for some time specifically to see whether the throat pain would improve, but the symptoms have continued despite stopping. I have already had a throat swab culture, which came back normal. My main concern is whether these symptoms could still be related to the oral-sex

The symptoms are unlikely to be directly related to oral sex, especially given that the exposure occurred about a year ago. However, a throat infection or STI cannot be ruled out based on symptoms alone. The brief morning throat irritation and pain triggered by sneezing may also be related to post-nasal drip, allergies, dryness, acid reflux, or another ENT-related cause. Since the symptoms have persisted for a year, an ENT evaluation is advisable, along with appropriate STI screening if the oral-sex exposure was unprotected.
Next Steps
The patient should consult an ENT specialist for a detailed examination of the throat and upper airway. If there was unprotected oral-sex exposure, discuss throat testing for gonorrhea/chlamydia and blood tests for HIV and syphilis with a doctor. Avoid self-medication with antibiotics. If the ENT and STI evaluations are normal, assessment for allergies, post-nasal drip, mouth breathing/dryness, or acid reflux should be considered.
Health Tips
Stay well hydrated and avoid smoking, vaping, and other throat irritants. If symptoms worsen or the patient develops persistent throat pain, difficulty swallowing, breathing difficulty, neck swelling, unexplained weight loss, bleeding, or a persistent mouth/throat ulcer or lump, seek medical attention promptly.

This doesn’t not seem to be related to your sex one year back. It may be reflux pharyngitis. Is there any loss of weight?
