Teenage hairline receding
My hairline started extremely receding at the age of 17/18(due to stress and bad quality water mainly) I have been using minoxidil (and vitamin tablets) from past two months within the prescription of a dermatologist and I started seeing great result from 2nd month itself. I asked my doctor how long will the medication process will take and he said I have to continue using minoxidil for 8 months atleast But after going through some reviews, articles and YouTube videos, i found that one who has grown his hair using minoxidil will loose a lot of hair after he stops using it. So now do I need to rely on minoxidil for the rest of my life? I feel like I should discontinue it before my leftover hair gets used to it as i personally don't get a good feel to use chemicals everyday. What should be my next best step?

1. Hair renews through stem cells which are unlimited, so no you don't have to worry about them running out 2. When you stop minoxidil, Hair don't shed because minoxidil is stopped, they shed because you scalp disorder restarts Look at it like a moving car If you deaccelerate it will slow down But when you stop that it regains speed Minoxidil is the thing deaccelarating the process of hair loss 3. Minoxidil has to applied till you want your hair, for life if that's your need Final statement at current level of medical evidence Whatever media claims, there is NO PERMANENT CURE for male pattern hair loss Other option, natural hair wigs (it seems artificial but the results are too good) Hair transplant will also need you to continue minoxidil 4. A maintenance DHT inhibitor atleast as Topical form is good idea
