Hi... Sle aggravates your susceptibility to photodamage. By photodamage I mean damage of skin due to ultra violet rays. Sunlight is not the only source of UV rays..but any artificial light.. even tubelights, bulbs, light from TV , laptop , mobile cause as much damage to skin as exposure to direct sunlight. Hence your first priority should be photoprotection by using a good sunscreen. Also minimise your exposure to light as much possible.
Some drugs used in SLE like hydroxychloroquine may cause increased pigmenation. Therefore you may ask your treating physician to change such drugs.
You may consult dermatologist near you to prescribe a good sunscreen and if absolutely needed a depigmenting cream.
