Swollen red leg below kne
His right leg is red and swollen from below the knee. He was not well and had fever around a week back. After which his legs started paining. Mom applied Balm and he covered himself with a blanket. Then he felt good but then later towards the day this happened. We have consulted our family doctor and he is on antibiotics since 3 days. The redness has reduced but swelling is there and increases by evenings

Looks like it is cellulitis by the description provided. Means it is infection. Limb elevation, rest and antibiotics. Since the condition of patient has improved by treatment, I think you can continue the same. Any worsening or non responsive stage should suggest that it needs alteration in medicine

your condition may be Celluliitis which is an infective condition of skin or it may be DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS (DVT). APPLY COMPRESSION or CREPE BANDAGES OR GRADED PRESSURE STOCKINGS if there is no wound or blisters, and elevate the leg above the heart level with pillows.

Ice packs for 15 minutes thrice a day. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the knee against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Keep in touch with physician a it may be indicating infection or overuse injury. Follow doctors advice and keep the joint above heart level for swelling.

Check for sugar level....dont cover ot or apply anything on it.... keep u r feet above the heart level...(elevated on pillow...)...swelling wil reduce....take all the antibiotics and consult u r doctor again...
