Dear Sir/Madam, recently I am blessed with baby on 1st Dec 2016. Since then my wife stopped taking any medicine containing folic acid. She developed depression and most of time, she talks to herself. She start suspecting on anythings. Doc advised her to take medicines related to calcium, iron etc but she does not take medicine. Should we consult psychiatrist considering baby is just 1month old or i have to wait for couple of month before starting medication to her. Eagerly waiting for your valuable consultation.

Since apart from depression, she also is suspicious & talks to herself, she may be suffering from post partum psychosis, which can happen in a few mothers post delivery. You need to immediately consult a psychiatrist. Till she becomes alright, some family member has to take over the responsibility of the newborn & supervise her while she is with the baby.
