If a sebaceous cyst does not trouble you or look bad cosmetically, you probably don't need any treatment. If it becomes swollen or tender, home treatments may help. Putting a warm moist compress over the cyst may help it drain, for instance. Do not apply apple cinder on it. But if it's inflamed and causing discomfort, you consult me. Only a doctor can usually decide if it's a sebaceous cyst just by examining it. I may be required to take some tissue from the cyst and do a biopsy to be sure it's not another type of skin growth.

Health Tips
Resist any temptation to pop or squeeze the cyst, like a pimple. Complete removal is essential and can only be achieved by surgery.

Home remedies can cause chemical burns. Do it at your own risk. I see one case everyday when patients do all kind of stunts by reading treatment on the internet and then repent later due to burns causing permanent pigmentation and scarring.
