Stpng medicines b4 surgry
Hello doctor, I need to undergo an arthroscopic acl reconstruction surgery next month. But I'm on medicines for psychic illnesses. My medicines are: LURAMAX 40, APIZOLE and SIZOPIN...will there be any complications because of these medicines before the surgery? Should I stop these medicines before surgery? If so, how long should I stop these medicines before surgery? Please help me. Thank you.

You are 20 yrs. Weigh 95 kg. Height 1.7m. Your BMI is 32 which is very high and on obese side. Your articulation and writing skills are too good for someone taking antipsychotic medications and the medications you are taking are for Schizophrenia illness. Tab. Sizopin ii's the one that can cause weight gain. But it is best for the illness. Coming to your dilemma, do you really need the surgery. Unless you want to lead an active life in sports, the ACL repair can be managed conservatively by strengthening your knee muscles with appropriate knee exercises and physiotherapy. ACL repair at this young age would lead to arthritis at early age as well. Coming to your weight issues, unless you reduce your BMI to below 25-27 and want to lead an active sportive life, I would suggest you to avoid surgery. Luramax and Aripiprazole need not be stopped during surgery but yes Sizopin requires constant monitoring by ECG, CBP for leutrophil counts depending on the dose. Hence avoided during surgery.
