My brother's daughter is 1 month 7 days old and she is having hiccups frequently, have been crying during the evening time and farting as well, looks like too much gas formation. What medicine should we use for such gas and stomach pain in newborns?
Is it ok to use Woodward's Gripewater?
Please advice. Thanks

Dear parents,
For healthy and active child, hiccups, yawning, sneezing ,&angadai is normal.
Air goes in stomach during sucking, after giving afeed baby should be burp.
For Burping, after each feed baby should be held over Left shoulder &his back at levels of stomach should be pat for 5mintues.
Baby burp 3to5times.
If this burping is not done properly this air passes to intestine ,baby tosses to relieve it, sometimes fail &start crying. After good patting, baby would burp get relieved.

Hiccups are normal in newborn child.
For evening time cry you can give colicaid/Colimex/colitru drops 5-6 drops when there is excessive cry.
Burp for atleast 10 minutes and then put him in left lateral position.
Put him in prone position for 2-3 hours a day after he sleeps.
Next Steps
cannot comment on Woodward's gripewater... as if no proven studies in my knowledge about that. better if not given.
Health Tips
