Social anxiety and phobia
Have been facing social anxiety and discomfort in facing people since I was 17. I can appear friendly and welcoming at outset but that happens sometimes only and have difficulty in making closer friendships. I always need someone by my side in any social situation or gathering. Cant be by myself. Now that I am in a job and undergoing training with altogether new people I am facing lot of difficulty in even stepping out of my room. I fear of being left alone as people form connections with each other. Don't know what to do. Please help.

When you join a job first you get training or education for it. Similarly when you wish to improve your handwriting you practice it regularly. So similarly for social anxiety first learn Relaxation exercises for 5 days regularly from a trained therapist. (Untrained psychologists can be harmful so meet a Clinical Psychologist). Then start CBT every week for 2-3 months. Avoid leaving it in between if you wish to get better. Persistence pays off.
