My family is scaring for my surgery as. m having l4-5 slip disc,backpain thigh and leg pain, doctor recommending surgery but my family scaring about surgery,so i want to know is surgery how much success and will i able to walk again normaly without pain .. please help me out... report also attached

Have few questions- if you have tried conservative treatment of not in form of rest , lifestyle modification , precautions to be taken , physiotherapy and medication ? If still not recovered after 6 weeks of proper conservative trial then take opinion for surgery . Still manageable with conservative treatment. But difficult to follow .

Not all patients of backache need surgery. Most of them can be treated with out surgery. This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. However I would like to examine & investigate you  in detail. -Control  Hypertension, Diabetes or  metabolic disorder, if there is any. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Keep no  pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. --. Fomentation with warm water/ Gel pac . Your height weight? I will advise for conservative management, some medications and exercise and fomentation. If you won't respond to conservative management, I would suggest nerve root block L4-5 L5-S1, MOST OF THE PATIENTS DO WELL AFTER Block. When all these fail then only I'll advise you surgery as your spinal  canal has sufficient room for nerves. Hope for the best.
