No fever. Only running nose and dry cough. For how many days? You may wait for a day or two. If you develop fever you will have to get a few investigations. At present no specific diagnosis can be made.

Based on the symptoms you say it's probably URI or allergy. If elders, you can use any antihistamine cough syrup and hot water. If kids the dosage and syrup varies based on the level of cold and dry cough, but you can provide hot water and consult a doctor for kids if below 2years
Next Steps
If below 2years, do consult a doctor online or offline . If above 2 years, antihistamine and cough syrup would work if given in appropriate dose
Health Tips
Hot water to drink Steaming if elders or kids who would sit through it

Hello, Running nose with dry cough without fever is usually due to a viral upper respiratory infection or allergy. Most of these settle on their own with supportive care. General advice: Stay well hydrated and take adequate rest. Steam inhalation 2–3 times daily helps relieve nasal blockage. Saline nasal drops/spray can be used for relief from running nose. For dry cough, warm fluids (like ginger-honey water or herbal tea) can soothe the throat. An antihistamine (like Levocetirizine) at night can help with running nose if symptoms are bothersome. ⚠️ If symptoms persist beyond 5–7 days, worsen (fever, breathlessness, chest pain), or if you have other health conditions, you must consult a doctor for examination and prescription. You may also book a consultation with me on Practo for personalised treatment. Regards, Dr. Romain Rajan
