Severe pain behind the knee
Severe pain behind the knee which traverses till the ankle. The pain intenifies if standing for long or doing daily chores. Occassional Swelling on the ankle. Difficulty in Sleeping due to the pain. Pain reduces when relaxing. It is mentioned as Osteoarthritis by a general physician recently. she feels a nerve pull behind the calf when pending down. All these symptoms exist only on the right leg nowhere else. Due to the pain at times she sprained her ankle. This problem is on and off for so many years. Severity increases during the winter, using the stairs. Would like to know whom we need to consult and possible treatments available.

This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. However I would like to examine & investigate you  in detail. -Control  Hypertension, Diabetes or  metabolic disorder, if there is any. -Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg] 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus  (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. -(You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.) --. Fomentation with warm water. Let the part not be exposed to cold. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. Use no pillow under the head. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. -- .Do mild exercises for the affected part-ie. Back and lower limbs. --.(Take help of physiotherapist or you can visit my YouTube channel Dr. N. C. Looks like she has osteoarthritis of the knee along with ankle ligaments sprain or injury or arthritis there too. You have to consult an orthopedic surgeon. They will evaluate clinically and ask for xrays, sometimes even mri. Tell her to wear knee cap and creep bandage to reduce the swelling and while sleeping a pillow below her ankle and knee to that it is elevated.
