If the pain is radiating avoid giving massages, instead go for stretching of lower extremity. Do hot pack fomentation for 10 minutes, 2 times a day. Keep the low back supported with cushion (while sitting) or a lumbar belt (if you have one).
Next Steps
Visit the nearest Physiotherapist to rule out any nerve pressing or and disc involvement which is giving the pain. Because these conditions will require proper Physiotherapy treatment at the earliest.
Health Tips
1. Avoid forward bending or lifting any weight while bending. 2. Give proper rest to the back by avoiding long hours standing/sitting.

Avoid massage in such cases..  It may be nerve compression or anything else.  Please visit nearest physiotherapy clinic.  First they use electro modalities for pain management and then manage by proper exercise protocol for permanent recovery.
