Serotonin Syndrome/ Reinstate new med?
I have been on a antidepressant for 16 years for the last 2 I have been on Anafranil, well 6 weeks ago I went to the ER for high heart rate and high blood pressure they diagnosed me with serotonin syndrome but me and my doctors are not 100% sure that’s what it was so I’m having test run but in the mean time they took me off my Anafranil in a 10 day taper and I’m having extreme withdrawals and severe anxiety which is why I was on it in the first place. I’m at a place where I can barely function!!

Hello, Stopping Afranil can cause withdrawal symptoms. If they are mild they usually go with time, but as you are having severe anxiety you can be started on long acting SSRI if they have ruled out it was not serotonin syndrome. Long acting SSRI can be continued or withdrawal gradually, as this will be long acting chances of having withdrawal symptoms will be minimum.

Conventional medicines (allopathy) have their long term side effects, nevertheless, they keep you functional. Homeopathy medicines on the other hand, treat the disease from the root cause without side effects. The good news is that you may opt for Integrated method of treatment i.e. adding Homoepathy treatment along with your ongoing conventional medicines. Depending on your body's response, homoeopathic medicines will help maintain your functionality with low doses of conventional medicines thereby preventing their side effects. For further details you may contact me via the Practo online consult portal.
Next Steps
Integrated treatment - approach a Homoepathic Psychiatrist as well along with your ongoing conventional medicines.
