My 4 year old son is having high fever reaching 102-103 at regular intervals of 4-5 hours. Fever starts with shivering. Has chest congestion and little coughing too. Consulted dr.
Haemogram is fine. dengue and typhoid negative. Dr has advised for nebuliser with budacort, livolin and antibiotic extacef 100. Antibiotic started today morning.
3 days and fever is still coming, now it is after 7-8 hours.
What could be the reason for fever. The doctor whom I consulted says its viral and duration between fever will increase and subside.
I am confused.

Keep temp recording. Watch for signs such as increasing lethargy or irritability without fever. Watch for urine output. Any increased breathing rate or increased efforts during breathing. Keep baby hydrated. Viral fever can also last for 7 days sometimes. Keep a watch for above mentioned signs.

Don’t worry fever is defence mechanism of body it will kill the organism continue same he will be alright in next 3 days
