Root cannal
Hi. I have recently undergone a root canal treatment. And a permanent crown is fitted. what are the chances of the same tooth being infected. As per my understanding during root canal procedure, the nerves are removed. So how can I sense if the same tooth is infected again.

Root canal system is a complex anastomose of canals and lateral canals.  It's a complex of tissues which a good dentist can fill with predictable results.  If the filling is incomplete or cleaning and sterilisation of canals is incomplete then reinfection is possible.  We do Laser Assisted Root canal therapy for predictable results and long term safety and efficacy of the treatment.  We get a very high success rate for the same.  Plz feel free to consult us.

Hi..you will get pain again which is suggestive of re-infection. Usually all dentists take x ray before root canal filling. So chances are less. But sometimes if root anatomy is complex and patient immunity is low then there are chances of re-infection. But, good thing is that it can be cleaned again and new filling can be done. Regards

In root canal treatment the nerves are removed is the very basic understanding. Root canal is a a complex 3 dimensional space filled with living tissue called pulp which of course containg nerves. The root canal system is the apt name to be used. When decay or infection reaches the pulp the entire system is infected with bacteria. In the Root canal  treatment the entire system needs to be disinfected and filled. The 100 percent of which cannot happen due to in accesibilty and anatomic complexities of the canal system. Re infection can occur due to various reasons. Resistant e. Coli or e. Fecalis infection of the system. Anatomic complexities of the canals. Lateral canals. Leakage through the filling material. Or coranal leakage. Recurrent decay on the same tooth. Micro cracks in the tooth or roots. And many more. Nevertheless the root canal treatment is a way to save the tooth which is already infected. Re root canal treatment is possible and may help. I hope that the question is answered in a way you have understood. If not happy to help. Warm regards

The crown is for protecting the tooth from further infection. However there is least chance for that tooth to get infected if ur oral hygiene is good and the treated tooth is free of any dirt/tartar accumulations. Since the infected nerves are removed during root canal treatment u can sense reinfection only wen it has gone deep into the root again. To avoid this maintain good oral hygiene.
