Root canal
My fiance just had her root canal done. Dentist has advised her for crowning/capping. We have wondering between zirconium and PFM crowns- additional to the fact that zirconium has higher cost. Please help me in making best choice for her with plus & minuses of both

Hi..you are young and obviously your fiance will be young too. So considering age and cosmetic consideration. Go for zirconia. For single tooth zirconia is best . For bridge PFM is good. Regards

hello. zirconia crowns are more superior in their properties in terms of esthetics and functionality. they are expensive. pfm crowns are of affordable option, but they are decent enough. U have to decide if your quality sensitive or price sensitive. Regards Sunshine Dental Regards.

Zirconia, pfm and E-max all are good Comparing them is like comparing   comparing acting of sharukh and amitab Different doc. Have different preference some like E max crown some like zirconia but if you dentist did everting correctly then even pfm can do job Pfm :- metal fused ,require more cutting , economical, can last a life time, some times staining occurs, sometime metal become visible which ruins the esthetics   Zirconia :- less tooth cutting requires, opacity is also comparable to the original , high durability  , sometimes get chip off On a simple note :- think of money only , all of them is perfect

Hello!! The only drawback with PFM crowns is the chipping of the layered ceramic over a period of time leading to exposure of the metal subsurface, resulting in an ugly looking crown. However this is not the case with Zirconia as they are much more stronger than PFM crowns. Go for Zirconia crowns and if price is the main concern you can opt for CAD designed PFM crowns which have very good marginal fit. Regards

Ideally a zirconia crown will be good because it requires less tooth reduction and strength is better leaving the cost behind. It's expensive
