Root Canal Caps
After root canal treatment need to fix cap for that ?? Is it required? If yes what are the types of caps available in the market. Pls tell me the price of those and pls suggest which one to use. What is the life of these CAPS.

Cap helps you sustain the chewing forces (load) applied on teeth while u chew food, so fixing a cap becomes necessary to avoid further wear of tooth. Hi..cap is very essential after root canal otherwise tooth would break. Available crowns are metal, PFM, zirconia. Life of cap is ten to fifteen years. Zirconia crowns are recommended.

The tooth becomes brittle after undergoing root canal treatment. that's why ideally all root canal treated teeth would generally require crowns to lengthen their life. There are various crowns available. Metal crowns, Porcelain fused to Metal crowns (PFM). Metal free ceramics. The price ranges from 2000 to 30000. Hi , Root canal is usually performed when the inner portion of tooth is damaged. It is completed by placing a filling in the tooth. A Fixed Cap is recommended inmost cases as it increases support to filling and dissipate forces of chewing over larger area hence improving success
There are few types of crowns, the doctor can give his recommendation after checking what suits best - based on area, strength, bite , color
Broadly material can be Metal/Alloy (Dark substucture) based or Zirconia ( White) Substructure based
Life depends on original condition, Diet, Masticatory load and most importantly how well you clean the area

Crowns/Caps are not necessary for all RCT treated tooth, but if the tooth has lost much of its structure(enamel) then it would be advisable to replace it with a crown.

Hello dear,
A cap is must after a root canal treatment as during treatment we remove nerve and blood supply of the tooth,it tends to become brittle.If we avoid putting cap the treated tooth may break and all the efforts of root canal will go waste.
Regarding your second question.
There are variety of caps available in market
like stainless steel,porcelain fused to metal(pfm),zirconia, emax,bruxir etc..
The best choice for you would be told by your dentist depending on your need like cosmetic purpose or chewing purpose.
Caps ranges from rs 1500 to rs 10,000 depending on the brand and quality and expertise of the dentist.
Usually the life of cap is 7 to 10 years.

Not all rct treated tooth require cap. After rct if your 50% tooth structure is intact then we can build inlay and onlay on it.inlay and onlay are prosthesis which are bonded to your teeth with the help of your remaining tooth structure.In case where 50% tooth is loss and if we go for a cap then we have to cut more of tooth from all sides,in inlay & onlay we need not to cut your whole tooth but we will build your lost tooth structure with the help of remaining tooth structure.it will strengthen your tooth.

After Root canal treatment every tooth requires crowns has over a time period that particular tooth becomes brittle & tends to fracture. So, every RCT treated tooth should be followed by crowns. Caps are not mandatory after root canal treatment but in maximum number of cases, the patient seeks root canal treatment when the tooth has undergone substantial damage already...... that is why in most (although not all) cases a cap is usually required after the root canal treatment...... a clinical picture and an x-ray will be required to give an opinion whether your case needs a cap or not..... the different types of caps available in the market are metal caps, metal ceramic (porcelain fused to metal/PFM) caps zirconia caps...... their cost varies from dentist to dentist depending upon his location, experience and the Lab from which the cap is manufactured.... Not all RCT treated teeth require crown. Those with significant loss of tooth structure do require crown to prevent further damage to the tooth structure and to restore proper shape and function of that particular tooth, most importantly in back teeth which are constantly under biting forces. Front teeth might not require crown if there is no substantial damage to the tooth structure. Just a minor procedure to preserve its shape and shade will do. Various types of crown materials like metal, porcelain fused to metal, zirconia(metal free) etc are prevalent. Would suggest a high strength metal free crown for back tooth.

Hello yes every rct treated tooth has to be capped to protect the underlying tooth from excessive forces as it gets brittle over a period of time..as for the crown/cap
There are various choices available now ranging from porcelain fused to metal caps to zirconia..the range of good quality caps is from 4000 to 12000..as for which cap you should go for depends on various factors which tooth you are wanting to get capped and your budget..each has its advantages and disadvantages..speak to your dentist and make the choice accordingly..

After RCT crowns have to be placed in order to protect the tooth as it becomes brittle over a period of time.
We have different varieties of material for crown starting from Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) to zerconia. They range anywhere between 4000 to 16000. You need to choose the material based on position of tooth esthetic needs and affordability
