Right knee surgery
Hello doctor, I have done an MRI in my right leg after an injury. MRI RESULT: #Partial ACL tear, #Minimal hoffa's fat pad edema, #Minimal joint effusion, #Bone confusion noted in lateral tibial and medical aspect of femoral and tibial condyle. Doctor, I want to know what happened to my knee in specific. Is this a serious injury? What kind of surgery should I expect? My doctor has hinted me about joint replacement surgery. Is this right. How much it costs? Could I return to all my athletic activities aftermath the surgery? I need information about these things. Help me. Thank you.

Hi, you seem to be either confused or misinformed about the facts regarding surgery. You seem to have a ACL tear which needs Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and not joint replacement surgery. Acl is a key ligament for your knee stability, without which optimal knee functioning is compromised. A good arthroscopic surgeon combined with good physio post surgery can get you back to pre surgery activity level within a time period of 5-6 months.
