Receding lower gum
My lower gum is receding exposing the front two teeth bases. I did cleaning about 4 months ago. That did not help. The condition is pretty painful now. Need help

At your age receding gums is quiet commonly reported problem.
With available periodontal(gum treatment) procedures, We can stop this problem from further deterioration, and treat the current condition. Further prognosis depends on severity of your condition, get a cleaning and root canal (if required) of those teeth done.
Get a periodontist opinion 1st.

Cleaning is something which needs to be done regularly to have the maximum benefit out of it.
It prevents the gums from receding when dome regualrly atleast every 6 momths.
Once the gums have receeded they do not regain the previous state naturally. Cleaning after this condition has occurred only prevents rapid degradation in the future.
If condition is severe and painful it is because of sensitivity from receding gums and the umderlyimg enamel amd dentine being exoosed.
You would most likely be advised root canal for those teeth along with some form of gum surgery and splinting of teeth. ( any one of the mentioned treatments or may be all of them depending on severity)

Tooth cleaning does not undo the damage that has already happened in the gums.... it is basically a mechanism to slow down the further progression of the disease..... proper oral hygiene maintenance after the procedure is of utmost importance...... also teeth cleaning is not a one-time procedure and needs to be repeated as per the patient's requirement based on regular follow up....
