RCT - What are other options?
It is the x-ray of my sixth left lower tooth. My doctor suggested RCT for this. I want to know if there are any options? I don't have much pain in it, and it doesn't feel very sensitive, it was previously filled with composite fillings. If RCT is suggested, should crowning be done?

The decay is very close to the nerve. If there is no pain you can try with a filling. It’s a borderline case so there are chances that after the filling if you have pain you have to go for RCT only. Post Rootcanal treatment crown is advisable to strengthen the tooth.
Next Steps
If no pain get a filling done n wait for sometime

Get a temporary filling done . If there is no pain and sensitivity you can take a chance with a permanent filling or inlay. However any sensitivity or discomfort after that indicates that the tooth will need an RCT

Your doctor suggested you the right thing. RCT is needed because caries is approaching to the pulp that is the decay is near to the nerves of the tooth. Crown is highly advisable as it gives enough strength to the tooth to survive for long & is relatively much needed in your case.
