Preterm baby slow weight growth
Hi My preterm baby born at 30 weeks with wgt - 1.49kg. Now he is 1 month old and his wegt is 1.50 kg His wgt was increasing from 5 days and was 1.535 day before but suddenly drops 30g i one day. He is on full feed (mother milk) , no medical condition as of now. But was on antibiotics for 21 days after birth. Is this normal wgt trend ?and when he will start speedy wgt gain? He is still in NICU so on what conditions he will be dischraged from NICU ?

Greetings. Every baby loses weight after birth, either full term or preterm. You feed the baby in proper posture, keep tickling her forehead or cheek ,to keep him awake. Keep proper ventilation ,Always start with alternate breast. Suppose you started on right last time, start on left breast this time , You must be giving MV drops keep priciple of demand feeds it means feed whenever baby demands. Do not follow clock. feeds

Please mention length (height) nd head circumference at birth and now. That is as important as weight. Weight gain is slow in preterm babies.  Discharge can be expected if baby is off o2, off warmer and gains weight everyday for at least 3 days
